FAQS
HERE ARE SOME COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT INDIGO TOURS
FAQS
1. HOW DO I BOOK A TOUR?
All bookings can be made either through the form on our website or directly via WhatsApp. Once we receive your booking details, we’ll confirm the time and meeting point — and you’re all set.
2. HOW DO I PAY? DO I GET AN INVOICE?
Payment is always in person, on the day of the tour. If you need an invoice, just let us know during the booking or on the day of the tour.
3. DO ANY TOURS INCLUDE FOOD?
Yes! All of our tours include a coffee and a traditional Sintra pastry. Some tours also include extra stops to try local food, and this is always mentioned in each tour’s description. If you’d like to make an extra stop for a longer meal, that’s also possible — just let your guide know during the tour.
4. HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN JOIN PER TOUR?
Depending on the vehicle, usually 2 to 6 people. For larger groups, just contact us on WhatsApp and we’ll see what works.
5. WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS OR THE WEATHER IS BAD?
We only reschedule when the weather truly makes it impossible. Sintra is beautiful in every kind of weather — sunny days highlight the mountains, and the mist brings a unique, mystical atmosphere.
6. HOW DO I FIND THE GUIDE ON THE DAY OF THE TOUR?
After booking, we send you the exact meeting point and the guide’s contact. They will find you 🙂
7. CAN YOU PICK ME UP FROM THE HOTEL?
Yes, we can pick you up from your hotel. Extra fees may apply depending on the location.
8. DO ANY TOURS INCLUDE PALACE TICKETS?
No, tickets are not included in the tour price. Our concept focuses mainly on exploring the outside — the viewpoints, hidden spots, and places you wouldn’t easily reach on your own. However, if you’d like to include an interior visit to one of the palaces, we can add that to the tour with no problem. Just let us know when booking.
TIPS AND TRICKS
1. START EARLY
Sintra gets busy, especially in summer. Starting early means fewer crowds, better temperatures, and better photos.
2. BRING LAYERS — ALWAYS
Even on a hot day, the top of the mountain or Cabo da Roca can be windy. A light jacket saves you.
3. COMFORTABLE SHOES ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND
There are hills, cobblestones, and trails — and sometimes you’ll want to climb up a rock for the best photo. Comfortable sneakers make a huge difference.
4. IN SUMMER: WATER AND SUNSCREEN
The sun hits strong, especially near Cabo da Roca. Stay hydrated and protected.
5. IN WINTER: WATERPROOF SHOES
Sintra can surprise you with quick rain and fog. A waterproof jacket and dry socks can save your day.
6. DON’T RUSH THE MOUNTAIN
All our tours are designed to be enjoyed with time, not in a hurry. Trust your guide — there’s no need to rush. We don’t believe in mass tourism that only stops for the Instagram photo; we believe in slow, quality travel. Sintra’s magic is in the forest, viewpoints, small stops, and hidden corners. Give yourself the time to enjoy it.
7. BRING SOME CASH
Many places accept cards, but small cafés and local shops sometimes prefer cash.
8. DON’T BE SHY. ASK, ASK AND ASK YOUR GUIDE!
Our guides have been studying and exploring the mountain for a long time. They live Sintra every day and can answer almost any question you have — from history and legends to hidden spots, food tips, and the best views. Don’t hold back, just ask!
“We’ve seen this mountain hundreds of times — we were born nearby, and we’ve done countless tours through its hills and roads.
But still, every time we see the look of wonder on someone’s face when they first take in Sintra’s breathtaking views, it reminds us why we love what we do.
That moment makes every single ride worth it.”
